The Duluth Folk School Has a Home!
It’s been a long time coming, but it’s official as of 4pm today: We have a home!!
Our address is 1917 W. Superior St, and for now, we’ll be making a mess as we get things ready for REALLY being open.
If you happen to be in the neighborhood, and if we’re around, we’d love to show you our new home!
Here’s a dramatic picture from 1968 of storm damage to Johnson Furniture, one of the previous owners of our building:
It’s fun to see the other businesses that used to be there, how the sidewalk and street were different then, and to see where the old Hong Kong Cafe used to be, right next door. If you have old photos or stories about this building, we’d love to see or hear them!
Here’s what comes next for us:
1. Get the space ready to go so we can start offering classes.
2. Build studio spaces that we can rent out to artists, crafters, etc. (Know anyone? Have them get in touch!)
3. Open the Dovetail Café (our menu will start modest, and grow with us).
It won’t happen overnight, but slowly and surely, our new home will be a place where we welcome everyone, for handcrafting, community, and FUN!
We couldn’t have done this without all of you. Thank you for registering for classes, for telling people about us, and for giving us those big, cheesy Thumbs Up!!
Thanks, everyone, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Okay, back to work for us.
Woohooo!!!

Please put me on your list for rental space (12’X12′) approximately.
Will take tour too, just to see. Great idea. All the best.
