Theresa Hornstein teaching with the Duluth Folk School

Theresa Hornstein

I have always been fascinated with color, fiber, and experimenting with traditional crafts. I began dyeing my own fibers for knitting, crochet, and felting as a teenager.

As a biologist and avid gardener, natural dyes became a logical area of research. Duluth and the North Shore have a wealth of natural dye sources, from invasive species like buckthorn, to the native lichens and fungi. My yarns, fibers, and are sold through the Second Saturday Marketplace in Duluth.
