Sweaters to Mittens!
-
February 2, 2020
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Do you have old woolen sweaters or coats taking up space in your drawers and closets? Maybe you just can’t part with them, or they have accidentally been shrunken? This class is your solution to giving that clothing new life in the form of attractive, functional, warm mittens!
During this class, our goal is to complete one pair of mittens from beginning to end.
The lining will be made from new non-pill polar fleece and embellished with buttons. A variety of colors will be available. You will also see examples of other forms of embellishment that you may want to try later.
Come join the fun – every pair will be different!
Registration Includes
Pattern, thread, buttons, non-pill polar fleece, pins, needles and instruction. Scissors and sewing machines are available if you don’t bring your own. Extra fleece will be available; if you do not bring a sweater, you can make both the lining and the outside out of fleece.
Skill Level
You should have basic experience using a sewing machine. There is a bit of hand sewing at the end.
Best for Ages…
18 and up
You should bring…
- Bring your own sewing machine, if possible. We will have a limited number of sewing machines available to use (see registration option), but most people are more comfortable using their own machine.
- Bring an old sweater. Bring more than one if you want to combine colors/parts of each. I recommend not using your very best sweater! Pre-washed wool or partial wool is best, but it doesn’t have to be. Avoid loose bulky knit cotton sweaters and sweaters that easily ravel. A wool coat will also work!
- Bring sharp fabric scissors, if you have them.

Is there a way I can get into this class? Or know about it sooner? I’m on fb. But every time the class comes up. It’s full!
