Learn the art of birch bark basketry in this hands-on class for beginners or experienced weavers wanting to learn a new material—no experience needed! Explore the full process of working with birch bark, from honorable harvesting practices to preparing the material for weaving. Guided step-by-step, you’ll create a small handwoven basket using traditional techniques and natural materials.

What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.

Student Requirements
- Skill Level/Prerequisite Skills: No prior experience necessary.
- Best for Ages: 18 and older
- You should bring: Please bring scissors. It would also be helpful to bring a small needle nose pliers or other “grabbing” tool.
