Step into the world of wild foods with this beginner-friendly foraging class! Learn the foundational skills needed to safely identify common edible plants and mushrooms in your local environment. Through hands-on exploration, you’ll discover how to observe key features, use field guides, and understand seasonal clues. Whether you’re curious about wild herbs, berries, or fungi, this class will give you the confidence to start your foraging journey with safety and respect for the land.

This session takes place on a paved trail suitable for mobility devices and those who prefer a flat path and slower pace. Last year we barely left the parking lot! This is usually a more plant based class although the occasional mushroom is found. All paces are welcome.

Registration Includes…

Students will go home with the knowledge of how to identify plants and mushrooms on their own. There is a chance to go home with wild edibles and depending on time of year may be able to try things in the field if you are comfortable.

What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.
