
Home Roasting 101

This class will be a hands on opportunity to roast your very own coffee! You will start by getting to know the mechanics of roasting and will employ a wide range of tools from woks to whirley-pops and cast iron skillets to popcorn makers. At the end of class you will take time to evaluate your results.
Registration Includes
At the end of class you will be able to choose a 4 oz. bag of Almanac Coffee to take home with you ($8 value).
You will also go home with a comprehensive knowledge of the craft & science of coffee and will be able to discern the myriad differences in processing techniques, sourcing, evaluating, roasting and brewing.
What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.

Student Requirements
- Skill Level/Prerequisite Skills: This class is for anyone
- Best for Ages: 18 and older
- You should bring: You are welcome to bring whatever equipment you may have including, but not limited to: Whirley-Pops, Woks, Cast Iron Skillets, Electric Popcorn Makers, etc. You may also want to bring a notepad and something to write with for taking notes.
Additional Purchases Available
You will be welcome to buy much of the kit you will be using in class at a discount of 20% off retail including: glassware, grinders, kettles, beans & filters.
