Advanced Jelly Roll Quilt
-
June 28, 2018
5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
***Registration closes on June 21, to allow time to order all the jelly rolls***
Have you ever wanted to quilt, but you don’t have a lot of time? In this class, you’ll finish this quilt top in a matter of hours!
Are you able to let things go out of your control, and flutter into the realm of the mysterious? With a jelly roll quilt, there is no pattern and things get left up to chance! It’s like one of those story books where you choose to do “A” or “B” and then flip to the appropriate page.
In this class you will learn advanced techniques for making Jelly Roll Race Quilts. You will pick a jelly roll and coordinating color to add in between each jelly roll strip. You will learn about how your choices will show up in the final sequence of the quilt.
This is not a competitive class. You need to be comfortable with your sewing machine or be comfortable with using an instructor/school provided machine. This class has more steps than the beginner jelly roll race quilt class but it takes place in the same amount of time. If you already have a jelly roll, you may bring it and just take home the one provided in class.
At end of class, we will discuss options for completing your quilt, either outside of class or maybe in another class.
Registration Includes
Each jelly roll has different colors and patterns of fabric. Once you arrive at class, you can pick the one that speaks to you!
We will have a bunch of different jelly rolls to select from, along with all the thread you’ll need. When you’re done, you will go home with a (hopefully!) completed quilt top, approximately 50″x60″ (not a finished quilt, but we will talk about how to finish your quilt during class).
Skill Level
You should be comfortable using a sewing machine.
Best for Ages…
13 years or older
You should bring…
Bring good fabric scissors (we have regular scissors you can use, but you’d be happier with sharp fabric scissors). We have plenty of sewing machines, irons and ironing boards, but you are welcome to bring your own of any or all, if you’d prefer.
