Art: Neighborhood Youth Art Projects

Come celebrate the work of two youth art groups, Wednesday, September 8th, from 5:30-6:30pm.

Kids from the Steve O’Neil Apartments and Damiano Kids’ Kitchen worked for eight weeks on art projects. There were over 30 people (12 families with youth, parents, staff and AmeriCorps Volunteers) from each organization who participated.

The art camps focused on simple shapes, using a variety of materials including: watercolor, oil pastels, tissue paper, paper mache, glue resist techniques, acrylic paint, and of course lots of drawing. The kids even took a trip to the zoo!

The second group of youth was a collaboration with Duluth Art Institute and the Birkenstein Art Movement Program at Lincoln Park Middle School. Working with Ecolibrium3, the students designed and created a three-part mixed media painting that represents the symbolism of water and life in Lincoln Park.

We are thrilled to showcase their work at the Dovetail Cafe and Marketplace though September!
