Sheep Shearing Field Trip

Would you like to join us for a great opportunity to witness a sheep shearing by a professional shearer, get a tour of a working wool and chicken farm, and finish the day with a fun, family-style potluck? Then this class is for you!

We will be visiting the Whippoorwill Farm in Iron River, Wisconsin (about a one-hour drive from downtown Duluth). They have scheduled a professional shearer to shear about 16 sheep. This is a very difficult job, and one that requires experience, so even though we will not have the opportunity to practice shearing ourselves, we will see – up close and personal – the skills and techniques that are required.
