Sasha Howell

I’m a costume designer and maker with more than 15 years of experience creating clothes, costumes, and meaningful objects with my hands. I’ve always been drawn to the tactile and expressive nature of craft—from stitching and patternmaking to upcycling and surface design—and I find real joy in the creative process itself. Over the years I’ve taught sewing and design in a variety of settings: intimate one-on-one mentoring, community workshops, theater production spaces, and beginner-friendly group classes. What lights me up about making is how it connects people—to their own creativity, to each other, and to the stories woven into the materials we choose.

Learning and teaching for me go hand-in-hand. I show people skills I’ve learned through practice, experimentation, and joyful failure, and I learn back from every person in the room. Whether someone is completely new to craft or deepening skills they already have, I see every experience as an opportunity to build confidence, curiosity, and connection through making.
