I have always loved spending time in the woods and eventually found my way into leading crews for conservation corps. In Colorado I took the USFS chainsaw course taught by an amazing woman and gained a new and different appreciation for working hard in the outdoors. Back in Minnesota I led a saw crew and spent hundreds of hours teaching and practicing the art of felling trees.

Running a chainsaw takes plenty of thoughtful planning, focus, and attention to detail with an unending opportunity to learn new things and improve. I’m excited to continue to practice this skill while helping others gain confidence in their own saw skills!
