Duluth Folk School Instructor Josh Bailly

Josh Bailly

I grew up among the grain and corn fields of NW North Dakota and moved to Duluth almost 20 years ago for college. After a mid-college, 2 year detour to Fargo I returned to Duluth to finish school and stay for good. I live in the Lincoln Park neighborhood with my wife, two young kids, and our geriatric golden retriever.

I’ve been working with wood for about 10 years and have been down the rabbit’s hole of hand tools for about 5 years. My typical approach to making furniture  entails a combination of power and hand tools, otherwise known as “hybrid woodworking”. I find this combination gives me the flexibility necessary to make beautiful pieces without fussing with machines settings all day.
