I became interested in primitive skills somewhere along the road in college. I attended a few rendezvous and sustainability workshops and thought these skills were something I definitely wanted to add to my toolbox.
Along the way, I’ve expanded my skillset far beyond anything I thought possible in my youth. Today, I consider myself a skilled carpenter despite any formal training. I made all of the log furniture in our house, and it’s weathered the test of time. I’m often found working on something new – last winter, it was canoe paddles and Langstroth beehives. This winter I hope to make a Top Bar Hive – the old school version of a beehive. So, wherever life leads me, I know that passing along these skills will only spread the joy to others!
