Duluth Folk School Instructor John Donahue

John Donahue

I have worked and played as a canoe guide, naturalist, storyteller and campground host. I was always looking for somebody to show me how to carve in wood. By chance, I heard of the Knotty Carvers and started going to their gatherings and classes about 10 years ago. To me, there is nothing like the contemplative sense I get from sitting down and carving a spoon or a figure. The possibilities are endless. The whole process is relaxing, whether I do it with others or on my own. I am excited to show others the techniques that I have learned over the years.
