Joelle Anderson
Originally from southeast Minnesota, Joelle has called Duluth home since she was 18. She studied Criminology and Sociology at UMD. At 26, she moved away after applying to AmeriCorps to a town outside of Philadelphia for 4 years, living and working at an intentional community life sharing with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She then had a calling to start another chapter and move to Santa Cruz, California, for 4 years to run a garden program: Camphill Communities use biodynamic agriculture in their gardens, and that inspired Joelle to pursue a BA in Environmental Studies with a focus on Biodynamic Agriculture from Prescott College.
She came back to Duluth in April 2020 and says it feels great to be back! She works at Vikre Distillery as a server, bartender, host, production team, and other things around the distillery. Last year she used a plot through Duluth Community Gardens for her final project at Prescott College and is trying to gain more knowledge in midwest gardening.
