Cindy Hale

As co-owner of Clover Valley Farms, I am an enthusiastic orchardist, farmer, vinegar maker, shepherd and teacher. After a 20 year career as a research ecologist with the University of Minnesota Duluth I left the academic rat race to farm full-time. On the farm, our family strives for sustainability, making full use of every aspect of our farm and ensuring that the multiple features of the farm work together to provide healthy food for us and our community.

Creativity and the pursuit of simple but fabulous flavors led to home wine and beer brewing, fermented foods, and eventually to making vinegars, at first for our own use but now as a full-time farm business. Sheep were added in 2013, primarily as self-propelled, non-petroleum based, lawn mowers & manure spreaders in the orchards. I was completely captured by them, and their wool! As a life-long knitter, wet felting was revolutionary…so easy & versatile! The rest is history in the making. I’m very excited to share my farm experience and skills!
