Austin Christensen

Hello, I’m Austin. For quite a long time I have been curious about sewing. Whether I needed to replace a button on a shirt when I was a kid or if I was watching my Dad sew a leather knife sheath with sinew. I would attempt to alter garments by hand to make them less baggy, and I made a few knife sheaths with Dad, but not much else for many years.

In college, at UMD, a friend taught me to knit, and my crafting daydreams and musings started in full force. I met someone, and taught her to knit. She then introduced me to a sewing machine. That was it, I was hooked. I never knit again! I have been making things from patterns, made up patterns in my head, and taught people how to do the same. I suppose it’s been a decade or so since I started sewing now. I have worked at Frost River since 2020 and get to craft with very high quality materials and I still love to craft even more at home when I’m off the clock. Whether that’s sewing, building up a bicycle I got at the dump, breathing life into old outdoor gear, or fixing and old Coleman stove.
