Alex Steiner

I enjoy building and creating all kinds of things using a wide variety of media. Some might call it a jack-of-all-trades approach but simply I enjoy following new ideas, techniques, and materials to learn something new. I’ll take any excuse to work with my hands. It’s a great way to shake up an, otherwise, computer focused world. The craft I have been involved with the longest is woodworking. I began as a kid working on home renovations, building in my grandfather’s shop, and spent a lot of time with my lathe in the shed making wooden swords to duel my brother with. After a rather long hiatus, I returned to wood crafts during graduate school where my balcony and a scrap wood bench became my shop. That setup required that I focus on handtools and I became interested in traditional woodworking methods. I now make furniture and small goods out of my garage shop and am working on filling our house with hand crafts.
