Mary Plaster
I’m a world-traveled, Spirit Mountain-based, transdisciplinary artist and facilitator with eclectic credentials in world spiritualities & social activism. I founded our annual Duluth ALL Souls Night festival in 2008 with the help of many partners over 18 years. I’m currently working with sculptural lantern processions and story-telling with my carved wood marionettes. I’ve worked some decades now with diverse communities by blending varieties of making techniques with mostly up-cycled materials to create visuals in an impressively broad range of scale! They are used to engage performers, protestors, and audiences of all ages/backgrounds in storefronts, demonstrations, street parades, ceremonies, exhibits, theatrical performances, dance productions, national conferences, and even the international Parliament of the World’s Religions. I try to openly and creatively honor grief while celebrating life with immersive art experiences and spectacle. My other learning obsessions include scuba diving, gardening, Guinea fowl and cats.
