Painting with Glass
During this class you will be introduced to the basics of copper enameling. We will start with some history and examples of copper enameling and learn about the materials that we will be using. We’ll walk through the supply list and learn about preparation of materials and safety information.
In this course we will be using a MAPP (methyl acetylene propadiene propane) gas torch, and we’ll be sure that everyone is comfortable with its use before moving forward. We’ll go through the steps of the enameling process, and you’ll have time to draw up some designs (with lots of inspiration and ideas throughout class). And then the fun begins! We’ll start “painting” with the colorful enamel powders, using your design as a starting point.
After the first piece is finished, you’ll have the rest of the class time to play with your remaining pieces. When the class is over you will have a at least one or two pieces of jewelry/art to take home and be proud of!
