Seed Starting: The Science and the Practical – SOLD OUT!

  • Seed Starting with the Duluth Folk School
     April 8, 2017
     10:00 am - 11:30 am
We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

This class will cover everything you need to know about starting seeds from scratch including the timeline for when to start your seeds, the best soil mixes, light requirements, and how and when to transplant your seedlings.

Seed Starting with the Duluth Folk School

We will explore various systems for starting seeds from an urban farm scale to the home garden scale. The instructor is a bit of a science wonk, so she’ll cover basic info about seeds, plant growth requirements, seed saving, and how to maintain soil fertility. People will be planting seeds and practicing a few transplants to take home and grow out in their gardens –  fun! 🙂 Class participants will have opportunity to start a tray of seeds for their home gardens, transplant some seedlings, see the gardens and plants we have on site and talk about various methods of gardening (organic methods are practiced whenever possible).
