Mini Sewn Adventure Map Workshop

In this intermediate sewing class, you will learn the techniques needed to create your own mini sewn map art quilt featuring waters of Lake Superior. This class will cover instruction of technique, including how to create layered images using fusible and applique. Students will create one 6 x 6-inch art quilt stretched over canvas and ready to hang

Instruction and materials ($30 value) are included . Participants will go home with their own 6″ x 6″ textile art map that is mounted to canvas and ready to be displayed on the wall.

What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.

Student Requirements

• Skill Level/Prerequisite Skills:Participants should have a basic knowledge of sewing, including know how to use their sewing machine.
• Best for Ages: 13 and older
• You should bring:
  • Sewing machine (unless using one from the Folk School), scissors, and sewing machine threads
  • Shea will provide a variety of Superior-themed maps for inspiration, but you are also invited to bring your own.
