Learn to Punch – Oxford Style!

April 18, 2020
5:00 pm - 8:30 pm
April 18th is International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day!
In celebration, join us and learn how to rug hook using the Oxford Punch Needle Rug Hook. This crash course is designed for beginners who want to explore the basics of punch needle rug hooking using the Oxford Punch Needle. Making hooked rugs with a punch needle and yarn began in the 1880’s as a faster alternative to using a rug hook and strips of cut fabric.
Students will create a 12 x 12 framed design using 100% hand dyed wool yarn. Students can create their own design or choose from templates provided by the instructor. At the end of this class, students will learn the skills necessary to make larger projects including trivets, wall hangings, purses, and wool rugs that will certainly become treasured family heirlooms. Fast and rewarding, punch needle rug hooking is often described as “instant gratification with wool.”
