You’ve always wanted to learn how to kayak. This is your chance!

Learn to Kayak with the Duluth Folk School

Join highly trained instructor Jen Buseman as she helps you progress from novice to being ready to go out on your own. You will learn about the gear used in sea kayaking, what kind/size of boat is best for you, and what to wear.

You will hit the water and learn how to get into your boat, what to do if you capsize, how to safely get back into your boat if you do capsize, and how to help someone else back into their boat. We will learn the basic paddle stokes, and move up to learning some more advanced paddle strokes, such as draw strokes and bracing. We’ll put it all into practice by going for a paddle on Lake Superior (weather permitting, of course)!

Learn to Kayak with the Duluth Folk School

This class consists of three 3-hour sessions. By the end of the three sessions you will have the basic skills needed to kayak confidently and safely – and you will also have met your new kayaking buddies! 🙂
