Foraged Cordage

September 10, 2023
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
If you have ever wondered how to make string from plants, this class is for you! We will start with fresh plant material (or dried, depending on the season), process them by hand, and turn them into string, also known as cordage. You will learn the best plants in our area for using as strong cords, spinning fiber for yarn and weaving, as well as some fun ones that really function best as decorative elements in basketry (did you know you can make cordage from rhubarb and dandelion stems?) You will go home with some cordage you made in class, and a pdf listing for helping to identify the plants we used in class plus many more.
