Are you curious about wool and sheep? Have you ever wanted to try felting? Do you like to know the origins and stories of the materials your working with? If so, you’re in the right place!
In this class we are going to be learning the whole process, from raw fleece to felt. We’ll start with Icelandic wool from Whippoorwill Farm, and then learn how to wash, card, and felt wool.
In the first class we’ll do a washing demo together, then you’ll take your own raw wool home to bring back washed and ready to card. In the second week we’ll begin carding wool together, and again take the wool home with you to finish. Week three and four we will learn two different techniques of felt-making as we work with our newly carded wool creating both flat and 3-D pieces of felt. By the end of our time together you will have all the skills you need to work with wool straight off the sheep’s back!
