There is an art and a science to teaching. But first we need to accept that it’s not about the teaching as much as it is about the learning. At the Duluth Folk School, we focus on learning skills in community. Three important words – learning, skills, and community.
Join us for this “class within a class” as we explore and workshop the classes you’d like to teach at Duluth Folk School. Whether you are a practicing teacher or have not yet facilitated a formal class anywhere, you can learn things that will help you to be more successful right away. Under the auspices of a spoon carving class, we will explore techniques and strategies that you could employ in a class about knitting, gardening, or even dancing. As a bonus, you’ll leave with some practical skills for carving kitchen tools and a spoon of your very own!
- First Class: September 18 from 5:30-8 (includes spoon carving and reflection on class facilitation)
- Second Class: October 9 from 5:30-7:30 (workshop potential future Folk School classes)
