Build the Fishing Rod You Won’t Find in a Store

Building your own fishing rod can be fun and rewarding! If you’ve always wanted to create a fishing rod that was exactly what you’ve always wanted, both in terms of fit, and in terms of performance, this class is for you!

In this class, you will learn how to select rod blanks and components to meet your specific fishing needs. You’ll learn what to look for in selecting a quality rod blank, and how to determine on which axis you should place the reel seat and guides. Guide type, size, and spacing will be discussed. You will see how to fit and glue rod handles and how to put the guides on the rod blanks using a rod wrapping machine.

The importance of achieving a look of “Fit and Finish” in your rod build will be discussed and taught. You will learn how to prepare and apply a two-part rod finish to the guides that you attached to the rod with rod building thread of your choice.
