Student Withdrawal/Cancellation
Once you have registered for a class, this policy applies, regardless of your reason for canceling.
- A full refund will be given when a cancellation is received 30 days before the course date.
- A 50% refund will be given if your cancellation is received at least 15 days before the course date.
- If you must cancel within two weeks of the course date, no refund will be given.
- No refunds will be made after the start date of a class.
If it is less than 15 days from the class date:
- If you have a friend that you want to take your place in the class, we can do that! We’ll need you to let us know via email or phone as early as possible. Please give us their contact information (name, email, phone) and please forward to them all of the communications we sent to you (regarding preparation for the class).
- If there is a waiting list for the class, we can let the people on the waiting list know that a spot has opened up. If no one takes your spot, then unfortunately, we would not be able to refund your registration, since the instructor has already purchased and prepared materials. If someone DOES take your place, we would refund your registration.
Course Cancellation
If the Duluth Folk School must cancel a course, a full refund will be given.
Weather Cancellations
We are from the Northland, we can handle it….usually. Only in instances of extreme weather will a course, or portions of a course be cancelled. For the rare situation where snowfall is so bad that the Duluth Transit Authority pulls buses off the road, we will cancel or postpone a class (you will be notified of rescheduled dates via email). For youth based programs, we will follow the Duluth Public Schools for cancellations.
Outdoor activity classes are a go in almost all conditions. We’ll draw the line at extreme winds, lightning, or deep freeze (below -20 F).
