I started making nature gardens in my backyard, in Bloomington, MN, at the age of five. Making happy habitat for birds, butterflies, snakes, turtles and small mammals kept me happily occupied.
I continued gardening while teaching in Homer, Fairbanks and Eagle, Alaska, which offered some unique gardening challenges! Moving with family to Houghton, Michigan, jobs in retail nursery sales and floral design expanded my expertise.
My Advanced Michigan Master Gardener credential, as well as my multiple years of gardening in very challenging conditions led to the capstone of my career, when I was hired as the Landscape Designer/Head Gardener for Michigan Technological University.
Trees, shrubs, flowers, boulder gardens and birds! Huzzah!
