I have a passion for water, especially the rivers and lakes found here at the tip of Lake Superior. I grew up swimming, paddling and recreating on local streams and lakes. I am currently the Water Resource Program Coordinator in the City of Superior’s Public Works Department where I am part of a team that manages the City’s Stormwater Permit and co-chair of the Regional Stormwater Protection Team. We work with homeowners, engineers, and contractors to help design and build communities that are in harmony with the water cycle by implementing green infrastructure and low impact designs in to projects.
I enjoy working on large and small scale sites, including collecting rain in rain barrels at my home. The bees, butterflies, moths, birds, and other animals that make their way into our gardens are my favorite indicators of success. Collecting rain is a great way to minimize your (tap) water use while relieving pressure on urban stormwater infrastructure in a time of increasingly intense storms. Each drop adds up!
