Lose Your Head in the Stars — How to Find Constellations Using Maps and Apps
Join local night sky enthusiast Bob King, for this fun class! Using your smartphone and the Star Chart app, you will learn how to find and identify a wide range of constellations.
Most people can find the Big Dipper or Orion, but in this class, you’ll learn tools and tricks to find and identify a wide number of constellations and other objects in the sky. We’ll start by using a paper star map, and then move over to using the Star Chart app. We’ll wrap up with a discussion about current night sky sights, tips on controlling light pollution, and specific questions that folks in class might have.
After the classroom portion of class, we’ll head outdoors to look into the sky and put our new skills to use!
Patient instruction and a physical star chart. By the end of class, you should be able to find a wide range of constellations, and leave with tips on how to help minimize light pollution.
