Rutabaga Jubilee!
-
March 1, 2019
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
This class presented is presented as part of a partnership between
the Duluth Folk School and the Duluth Community Garden Program *
Duluth’s 2019 Vegetable of the Year is… The Rutabaga!!
Join us for a celebration of the Rutabaga in poetry, art, and human life.
We’ll explore the natural history of this fascinating food as well as its multiplicity of uses in the kitchen. From mashed to mandolined; spiraled to simmered; from fried to fileted; or cubed or custard, the rutabaga is a underutilized dietary staple of the North. We’ll also be doing some rutabaga tasting!
Much like the wandering tendrils of this robust tuber we’ll meander into rutabaga arts and participants will create their own root based propaganda!
Registration Includes
Stories, recipes, tastings, and information about Duluth’s 2019 Vegetable of the Year – the rutabaga! Everyone will go home with a rutabaga of their own
