Come celebrate National Rosemaling Day on September 11 with this great class!
In this comprehensive, three-day class, you will learn the Os (pronounced ‘oos’) style of Rosemaling! You will review the basic stroke work of Rosemaling, and then spend the remainder of the class time studying the characteristics that make the Os style Os. You will then paint a class project.
You will begin by ‘backgrounding’ your project in the traditional color palette, transferring a design and then painting your project in oils. There will be lots of demonstration by the instructor and plenty of time for practice too. This class will be taught in oils but acrylic painters are welcome.
We will take a midday break for lunch on Saturday or Sunday. You are welcome to bring a bag lunch, or enjoy some of the delicious food and drinks from the Dovetail Cafe!
Instruction and all required materials. By the end of class, you will go home with knowledge of Rosemaling history, new painting techniques, and an understanding of what comprises the characteristic Os style. You will go home with your rosemaled project, and enough knowledge to continue rosemaling on your own.
You should have some experience, either painting with oils or acrylics, and/or some experience rosemaling, but beginners are also welcome.
