Just in time for your garden harvest, join us for Pressure Canning 101!
Together we will learn basic pressure canning procedures, and everyone will get a chance to practice and go home with some canned green beans!
Canning safety and equipment safety will be emphasized. We will discuss the benefits of pressure canning over the hot bath method. We will also talk about what equipment you’ll need for home canning, including canner selection and purchase tips. You’ll get to inspect and learn the benefits and drawbacks of various types of pressure canners, and you’ll have hands-on time with tools, jars, flats, and rings that are best for canning.
You will also have the opportunity to review the books and resources that instructor Ron uses to determine safe canning pressures and processing times for canning various foods in a variety of jar sizes.
Everyone will participate in a hands-on group canning project. You will be able to take home the fruits (well, vegetables) of your labors.
