“With these pieces, I have given voice to history, to culture, to tradition, to my soul.”
The ancient art form of Pisanki – writing a design on an egg, transforming the elements of the earth, water, air
and fire into something precious and wondrous.
Pisanki are inspired by nature and steeped in tradition. You will learn the old world method: a wooden handled metal funnel filled with beeswax is melted under a candle flame. The melted beeswax is your pencil and the egg is the canvas.
The instructor will also talk about the traditions and customs around the egg, and surrounding Easter, in Poland.
The instructor will provide the designs, instruction, writing tool, eggs, candles, beeswax and dyes. You will leave with an incredible sense of ‘….ahhhh, I did that!’ You will leave with a knowledge, understanding and technical skills of the amazing folk art of Polish Pisanki.
