We will experiment with natural dye materials you can find in your own back yard and garden, learn how to prepare different dyes, and learn how to use modifiers to expand the range of colors.
In this class, you will learn how to find, and how to use local sources of natural dyes including goldenrod, hollyhocks, mushrooms, lichens, and more!
You will learn the basics of processing natural dyes, how to ethically collect natural dye materials, and go home with sample skeins of yarn you dyed.
Registration Includes
Instruction and all materials, including merino wool yarn, mordants, and dye materials.
You should bring…
Bring an apron, or wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained and bring some bags to take home the wet yarns.
