Come on down to the Dovetail Cafe for a free show with two great musicians: Sophie Turk and Charlotte Montgomery!
Sophie Turk is a singer and songwriter who plays unembellished country-folk style lap steel guitar. She is originally from Duluth, and grew up on the North Shore.
Sophie has worked with producer Brian Ring and bassist Matt Mobley (Coyote, Southwire) as ~~~~~Lion or Gazelle, which resulted in a self-titled album available on SoundCloud, and Ring’s newest collaborative work “Hinterland”, which is available on iTunes and Spotify. In addition, her band Black Diary, featuring vocalists Rachel Phoenix (Glassine, The Social Disaster) and Tasha Turk (Twin Ports Choral Project) and guitarist Jesse Hoheisel (Great Unwilling, The Social Disaster) have performed on various stages around Duluth.
You may know Charlotte Montgomery from Red Mountain banging on the cowbell and dancing in sparkly outfits, or from pickin’ banjo with her former old time band The Clover Street Cronies. Her solo set of original music showcases her softer, poetic side inspired by love and heartbreak, nature and spirituality. From timeless tales of love to songs about squirrels, her music is sure to hit some heartstrings.
