Music: Homemade Instruments & Down-Home Music

  •  May 25, 2019
     3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join Lee “Colorblind” Johnson and Kyle Ollah for a fun, free musical session!

Today, Jug Band Music (sometimes called ‘a poor person’s jazz’) exists off in the margins of American history, but it was once a hot ticket during the 1930’s. Bands like the Memphis Jug Band and Gus Cannon’s Jug Stompers performed with a wide range of “pseudo-instruments” – such as jugs, spoons and washboards – and created a jumping sound that’s hard to beat!

Lee and Kyle will be offering demos with non-instrument instruments, and will also be performing jug band favorites for you to play along with.

Come on down to watch the fun, or bring your own homemade instrument and join in for a jam!

Appropriate for all ages.
