New and Traditional Nordic Folk Music
Adam and Renee play new and traditional Nordic folk music on nyckelharpa and guitar – high energy slängpolskas, danceable schottises and rheinlenders, and happy waltzes are favorites!
Adam loves a wide variety of music, especially deep-rooted American old-time tunes recorded in the 1920s and 30’s. Adam also plays banjo, upright bass, resonator guitar, mandolin and ukulele. Adam recently built a gourd banjo and taught at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes.
Renee plays nyckelharpa, a rustic and earthy traditional Scandinavian instrument that dates back to the 1300s. She recently acquired a kontrabasharpa, and also plays a WWII era traveling pump organ. Renee plays with a variety of constellations, and is a regular at the American Swedish Institute, Høstfest and Nisswa-Stämmän Scandinavian music festivals.
