We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Quietly trekking through deep snow on your very own handcrafted wooden snowshoes is one of the things that makes winter in the great Northwoods magical.

In this class you will use a locally made kit with black ash frames and polyester lacing, to weave your own pair of traditional snowshoes. The black ash frames are flexible and strong, and the polyester lacing is extremely durable and long lasting. Developing the skill of lacing and following the pattern might be difficult at first, but with guidance from our expert instructor, you will get the hang of it, to the point of enjoying the lacing process.  Many people want to make more snowshoes, after they have completed their first pair!

You’ll learn techniques for weaving, learning the right knots to use, and how to care for your snowshoes.

*Final registration closes November 21 to allow time to gather supplies

Registration Includes

Quality instruction, wooden frames, and lacing. By the end of class, you’ll have a pair of new snowshoes you’ve laced yourself!

Two notes:

  1. Your snowshoes will need to be varnished before use. We’ll provide suggestions about which varnish to use.
  2. You’ll need snowshoe bindings, which we’ll talk about in class

After you register, we’ll contact you to determine sizing.
