Make Your Own Cold Process Soap

February 29, 2024
5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Want to learn to make cold-process soap from scratch? Then this is the perfect class for you! Although it may seem complicated when you are first starting out, making your own soap from scratch using all-natural ingredients can be both fun and rewarding ~ not to mention extremely addicting!
Why are people drawn to making their own soap from scratch? Many of us start making soap to have inexpensive, homemade, natural gifts for all the holidays and birthdays throughout the year. Or, some of us begin soaping because we have friends or family with sensitive skin that is easily irritated. Many commercial soap companies use cheap petroleum-based ingredients (like mineral oil) that can be harsh on delicate skin. By making soap in your own kitchen, you can tailor it to suit any skin type as well as ensure that only the most beneficial ingredients go into your finished soap. In this class, we will make a 2-pound batch of soap (about 8-10 bars) using the cold process method.
Registration Includes
You’ll go home with a 2 pound batch of soap made entirely by you! This translates to about 8-10 bars of soap, once it’s cut. You’ll have the chance to choose your own color and scent from the beneficial herbs, clays, and essential oils provided by the instructor. You will also leave with a simple-to-follow recipe, and knowledge of how to source your own ingredients.
You should bring…
- stainless steel cooking pot that holds about 2 quarts (8 cups)
- whisk
- eye protection (we will have some available)
- rubber gloves (cleaning type)
- a mold for your finished soap (can be purchased at Michael’s, or HERE is a link to information about other things you can use for a mold).
