Introduction to Watercolor and Ink

Explore the possibilities of ink and watercolor in this introduction to watercolor and ink class. We will learn about the properties of watercolor, create flat washes, work wet-into-wet, practice brushstrokes, and learn to mix any color. We will then add details and additional dimension to our paintings with pen and ink.
Registration Includes
Patient instruction, quality brushes and paint, paper, and related materials (value $50). You will go home with your new brushes and paints, a practice sheet of the various techniques we have used, and 4-6 small paintings you created in class – perfect for greeting cards or gifts!
You should bring…
For ‘Materials Included‘ option:
You don’t need to bring anything, although if you have materials you’d like to bring to experiment with, you are welcome to do so.
For ‘You Provide Materials‘ option:
You should, at a minimum, bring your own paints and brushes:
- Watercolor Paints
- Brushes – variety of sizes #8, #6, #2 rounds
Optional: (the instructor will have extras on hand)
- Pencils HB/2H
- Eraser
- Masking Tape/Painter’s Tape
- Palette
- Drawing Board
- Permanent Black Ink Pen (micron or sharpie) or nib pen & ink
- Cold Press Paper 140b (Arches, Canson or Strathmore)
