-
May 16, 2026
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Participants in this class will be provided with the materials and access to tools needed to produce a carved wall piece in basswood. You will learn the techniques and skills to use three different gouges to produce the textures that creates the shadows and depth of your project. After a time of direct instruction you will flip the board and draw out your own creation or use art provided by the instructor. The balance of the class time will be yours to work with coaching and guidance from the instructor.
Registration Includes
All tools and supplies will be provided. Class participants will leave with an 8×10 basswood relief carving but more importantly, with the knowledge and hopefully passion to continue carving!
What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.
