We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Do you have an old hand plane at home collecting dust? Or maybe you inherited a hand plane from a relative, or picked one up at a yard sale, with good intentions of learning how to use it. You can bring that plane to this class and learn all about it as we transform it from a decoration on your mantle to a well-tuned tool.

In this class we’ll examine a variety hand planes and learn what makes a quality hand plane. We’ll take the planes apart and use files, sandpaper, and elbow grease to bring all the critical surfaces down to clean, flat metal. We’ll then restore and sharpen the blade, using a power grinder to re-establish a new edge. We’ll discuss the different types of water and oil stones you can purchase, and finally we’ll cover the entry-level method of sharpening with sandpaper and a blade holder.

By the time we’re done, you’ll have a blade sharp enough to shave with!

Registration includes…
