Inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, Forest Bathing has been scientifically proven to boost immune strength, reduce stress, and improve cognitive functioning. During a Forest Bathing walk we will have the opportunity to slow down and carefully observe our senses. We may begin to notice incredible things about ourselves and the more-than-human world around us. In escaping the rapid pace of our everyday routines we may find unparalleled wonder in the moment and relax into the beauty all around us.

Registration Includes…

By the end of class, you will go home with a sense of calm, and an inspiration for spending more time out in nature.

What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.

Thank you for participating in our local handcraft and education economy! Together, we help keep Duluth a fun and vibrant place.

Student Requirements

  • Skill Level/Prerequisite Skills: This class is open for any skill level
  • Best for Ages: 18 and older
  • You should bring: Please wear clothes you are comfortable with getting dirty as we often sit on the ground. The forest can be muddy and wet, and it is easy to get chilled if you aren’t dressed warm enough. Wear more than you think you will need. You can always take something off! In addition, it is possible it may rain, so bring a rain jacket and rain gear. We will go unless there is lightning or the guide deems the conditions unsafe. Dress in layers to keep yourself comfortable during the experience. Also, please bring: A water bottle, Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, apply sunscreen ahead of time), tick protection (long pants to tuck into socks) and sturdy shoes for walking on uneven surfaces.

Location

Class will meet at Lester Park. Please meet at the Gazebo.
