Dye Like a Viking

  •  July 23, 2022
     9:00 am - 2:00 pm
We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Join us for an exploration of natural dyes used in Viking textiles – vibrant greens, soft reds, lichen purples, deep golds, and rich blues – based on archeological evidence. You will learn to prepare dye baths, mordant fibers, modify colors, and identify dye plants. Students will receive eight 25-yard skeins of yarn to dye, enough for you to create a project. This introductory class will also discuss ethical harvesting, ways to modify colors, and sources for further exploration.

Registration Includes

  • Patient instruction
  • Yarn and dyes (value $20)

By the end of class, you will go home with about 200 yards of wool in a variety of colors, and the knowledge to dye additional fiber!
