Every line has a story – the character of the line. The thick – the thin, the imperfect. The handmade.
Life in a Polish village, on a farm, meant that you had plenty of eggs. The egg, the symbol of new life, rebirth, Spring, the Resurrection.
In this class, we will work on an empty natural dyed egg and a full egg that is aniline dyed. This style of egg decorating is popular in the Slask Opole region in Poland. Drapanki- Skrobanki is the Polish name for the beautiful scratch egg tradition in Poland and other Eastern European countries.
You will learn how to make a delicate pattern using knives, pins and other scratch tools into the surface to reveal the white shell of the egg.
Registration Includes
The instructor will provide the designs, instruction, eggs, and natural and aniline dyes. You will leave with an incredible sense of ‘….ahhhh, I did that!’ You will leave with a knowledge, understanding and technical skills of the amazing folk art of Polish Drapanki- Skrobanki.
