Discover the hidden strength of a common wild plant in this hands-on beginner class focused on making cordage from cattail leaves. Learn how to identify, harvest, and prepare cattails for twisting into strong, natural twine. We’ll guide you through basic cordage techniques using dried leaves, and explore how this simple skill can be applied to other wild materials.

What goes into our class pricing? As a local nonprofit, Duluth Folk School is committed to supporting both our instructors and community. We want to compensate our instructors fairly, keep class sizes small, and keep our doors open—while also keeping prices as low as we can.

Student Requirements
- Skill Level/Prerequisite Skills: No prior experience needed, you will need hand dexterity/fine motor ability for an extended time
- Best for Ages: 13 and older
- You should bring: You don’t need to bring anything but some students like to bring a notebook and something to write with.
