Carving a Female Face (Day 2 of 2)
October 8, 2023
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
In this class you will carve a female face in relief out of a piece of basswood that is a little less than 1″ in thickness but 14″ wide and 11″ tall. This style of carving is unlike carving in the round in that there is less wood removal and changing shapes are represented in a much more shallow and subtle way.
You will go through several steps to learn about face proportions and how to remove the right amounts of wood in various places across the carving in order to make it look realistic.
Registration Includes
Students will go home with a relief carved female face in basswood.
